Alex is a psychotherapist and counsellor based in Sydney. He received his Bachelor of Psychological Science and Master of Psychotherapy and Counselling from Western Sydney University and is currently completing a Masters in Addictive Behaviours with Monash University.
He grew up in Western Sydney and recognised a need for change in the way we view mental health from a young age. This was particularly evident during close contact with those in the armed forces, elite athletes, those in addiction and those directly affected by the criminal justice system.
This photo on the left is probably the only time you'll see him in a button-up shirt - usually, it's jeans and a tee, so we're both comfortable. Say it with me "long-sleeve shirts do not equate to professionalism"!
Alex is the therapist and founder of alphapsych, which came about in 2019 to broaden his experience and expertise in particular areas. Alongside alphapsych, Alex is also the Senior Counsellor and Psychotherapist at Foundation House - a residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation service in Sydney, targetted toward members in the construction industry.
There is a recognition that men are less likely to seek help when they are struggling mentally and may find it more difficult to find someone to speak with when they are ready to take the first step. alphapsych has been tailor made to introduce a casual introduction into therapy to assist with long-lasting change.
